I have tried Taylor of Old Bond Street, Cremo, this product, and various commodity shaving creams at the big box retail stores. In my opinion, this product is tied with the Cremo brand for best shaving performance. Fragrance intensity is subtle, tied with Cremo, less than TOBS. I really like the scent of this product, but not everyone is a fan of all things cedar (their loss). I really like the solid feel of the heavyweight glass jar. Probably not the lightest thing to take when traveling, though.
Best Shaving Creamer, ever!
by Gary on 10 Tue,2017
I've tried a lot of different shaving creams and soaps over the years, Crabtree & Evelyn soap, Taylor of Old Bond Street soap, L'Occitane en Provence Cade cream, but this time, one of my favorites, the Cade cream was out of stock and had been for some time, so I went looking for another. I found this St. James of London Cedarwood and Clarysage cream and I'm glad my previous cream was out of stock. I'll stick with this one for as long as I can.
One thing I noticed, right away, is how concentrated this shave cream is. A very tiny dab at the end of a wet brush (perhaps a dime size dab if your using your hands instead of a brush) gave me great lasting lather, that also smells great and makes my skin feel good afterwards. I highly recommend this shave cream. Seems the Brits know how to make it best.
Love this shave cream!

I was really looking forward to trying this cream and it didn't disappoint. Great lather, silky smooth shave and finish, great scent, no irritation, great packaging. Highly recommended, thank you St James :)

I'll admit I've bought many Sandalwood-scented products simply because it has the word "wood" in it, expecting to get a very earthy, woodsy scent. While Sandalwood is a pleasant scent, it's never lived up to the "wood"-smelling expectations in my head. Cedarwood, however, does; it's the wood scent I've been after. This cream combines the scents of cedarwood and sage, and boy does it smell fantastic.
The performance is even better. A little dab of cream lathers up like you've had a cream pie thrown in your face. I didn't think I'd try a cream that performed better than Taylor of Old Bond Street's shaving creams (which are excellent), but I have with this. I tried this cream as part of a multi-scented inexpensive sample pack off of St James of London's site (I don't think they sell it through Amazon) and I'm seriously considering buying the shaving cream in the full size here.
Smooth shave and nice and Spicy
by allen roberts on 11 Thu,2016
very slick, lots more soap in the jar than you would expect, smells sweet and slightly spicy, a little perfumey, high class. stayed moist, didn't give razor burn, skin is still soft, my other soaps didn't do that. i didn't use the gel or aftershave, yet the scent has remained, lightly spicy all night. i shaved using a thirty's model Gillette open combed razor with dorco blade. open combs keep some of the shaving cream on your face making second passes more smooth. this shaving soap was worth the money.
